Quick start
Create your workspace, add a router, publish packages, and share your captive portal.
- 1 Sign up for a 7-day free trial — no card required.
- 2 Complete onboarding: business name, M-Pesa paybill, and first MikroTik router.
- 3 Create internet packages (hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly).
- 4 Open Hotspot settings and copy your portal URL for customers.
Connect MikroTik
Link your router so Makao can sync users, vouchers, and hotspot profiles.
- 1 In Workspace → Routers, click Connect router.
- 2 Enter router name, LAN IP, and API credentials (read/write user recommended).
- 3 Run the connection test — status should show Healthy when online.
- 4 Assign packages to the router so captive portal purchases grant access.
M-Pesa payments
Collect STK push payments on your captive portal and track them in Transactions.
- 1 Add your Safaricom Daraja credentials in Settings → Payments.
- 2 Enable M-Pesa on your hotspot portal.
- 3 Customers enter their number on the portal; they approve the STK prompt on their phone.
- 4 Successful payments appear in Transactions and activate the purchased package.
Captive portal
Brand the page where guests buy WiFi before connecting.
- 1 Upload your logo and set brand colors in Settings → Hotspot.
- 2 Choose which packages appear on the portal.
- 3 Point MikroTik hotspot login to your Makao portal URL.
- 4 Test a purchase end-to-end with a small package.
